School district history
Telfair County High opened in 1959 as a consolidation of McRae-Helena, Workmore and Ocmulgee. Milan and Lumber City consolidated with the school in 1963. Central High, which never played football, combined black high schools at Twin City (McRae-Helena), Rock Hill (Jacksonville), Lumber City and Milan. Central closed in 1970.
