Taliaferro County, Georgia
<databox_county/>
School district history
Football has never been played in Taliaferro County. Through 1965, the county had two public high schools, Alexander Stephens Institute and Murden. When black students applied to enter Alexander Stephens in August 1965, the school closed rather than integrate, with white pupils transferring to neighboring systems[1]. Murden changed its name to Taliaferro County in 1966. Dropping attendance numbers saw Taliaferro County High begin to combine with Greene County in 1981 before the high school completely shut its doors in 1982[2].
Taliaferro County regained its high school in 2001.

Notes:
- While Taliaferro County has never had a football team all by its lonesome, students did have the opportunity to participate with Greene-Taliaferro, which began taking in Taliaferro students in 1981 before the high school building opened the next year. Greene-Taliaferro went back to separate county high schools in 2001.
