F.B. Henderson was an African-American school in Jackson.

History

F.B. Henderson got its name in approximately 1939, a year after the new six-room Jackson Negro School was built,[1] though it doesn't seem that the change was official (or did not apply to the elementary portion or was voted upon again) until 1955.[1] The name honored former principal Fannie B. Henderson.

A new F.B. Henderson opened in November 1955.[1]

Henderson closed as a high school in 1970, but was retrained as an elementary and junior high immediately after.[2]

Football

Henderson began football in 1953 and continued fielding teams through 1969.
