Game summary
The North struck quickly, then held on for the win. Commerce’s Bobby Lamb led the Yanks on three scoring drives in the first quarter. Lamb threw to Jerome Winters from 8 yards for a 7-0 lead. Ben Logue then took a draw play 30 yards and it was 14-0 midway through the first. James Jones of Americus ran from nine to make it 14-7. The North’s Keith Montgomery answered with a pitchout 38 yards around right end for a 21-7 score after one quarter. From there, the North did not have a single first down the rest of the game. Herman Archie, the Offensive MVP, caught nine passes form 163 yards to lead the South comeback attempt. Todd Williams of Waycross hit 13 of 26 passes for 173 yards for the South.
