Walker County school officials opted to close the high school in 1967, citing Department of Health, Education and Welfare freedom of choice plan requirements.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;closure&amp;quot;&amp;gt;Walker County Messenger, January 18, 1967&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; High school attendance was given at that time as 127 students. [[Georgia Interscholastic Association]] region records list the high school as having an average daily attendance of 103 in 1959-60 and 178 for 1966.&lt;br /&gt;

== Football ==&lt;br /&gt;
A black LaFayette high school fielded a few teams in the 1930s, but it is unknown if the Hill High name had been established yet.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Hill High annually fielded teams from 1946-63. The [[1951 team]] under [[Joseph &amp;quot;Juda&amp;quot; Brown]] reached the region playoffs, but was eliminated by [[Cedar Hill]], 25-0.&lt;br /&gt;

[[Herbert C. Bradshaw]] later coached Hill.
